Here In the Love of Christ

***You've got to turn off my blog music to hear this song...sorry***

Yesterday, we listened to this song in the car on the way to church. And I hear Charlie's tiny singing voice from the backseat and it made my heart swell with love. In Christ Alone has been done a lot by various artists and sung in churches around the country. I love the lyrics!

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt of life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

Then as a mere coincidence our pastor preached on overcoming adversities through our Christian faith and that in the depth of our sower we are not alone. Sometimes, especially lately I have lost sight of that. I've been trying to do it on my own and obviously not working for me. The message of Christ is not that we won't ever have pain or won't experience bad things in our life, but that He is with us, forgives us, and renews us. That thought and this song keeps playing over and over in my head and heart, so I am still and listening.

PS Annie's lock out at church was SO much fun. She fasted along with many other youth for 30 hours (I am proud of that because I couldn't do it more than 12 hrs or so. They saw the movie Soul Surfer, which was awesome. They broke the fast with In N Out where Annie devoured a double-double, fries, and a drink (I don't know where she puts it either). They played games like dodge ball at church, then headed out to play Laser Tag at 5:00 am. Needless to say our party people were very tired the next day and slept most of the day and into the night. We are so blessed to have such an amazing church family and a youth group that offers things like this for our teens when they need it the most. A big thanks to our DCE's who are a huge, positive influence on our teens when they need it the most.

If this post seems disjointed it is...give me a break, it's Monday morning!
